Katy Perry mocks Paul McCartney

I’m well aware she just tried to joke around and be funny, but you don’t joke around with someone like Paul McCartney if you’re in the music business, it would be like joking with your boss or the headmaster from your school about their achievements at work. It’s not polite and you should respect them, most importantly, because they’ve been doing what they’ve been doing longer than you.

Now, yes, she has 10 number one singles in a 5 year old career, but she won’t have (and I’m pretty sure of this) a 50+ years old career. She won’t be around half as long as Paul has. That’s one of the main reasons why one artist, no matter how successful, should NEVER joke with Paul McCartney’s career (unless you’re Bob Dylan or Mick Jagger, or someone with a career just as long as his).

Then that unknown fat-ass said “I have one and I’m not even a singer,” that wasn’t that bad until he said “it’s not difficult Graham, that’s what we’re trying to get across.” That was incredibly stupid to say. Nowadays any crappy artist can have a number one single because there’s Internet and iTunes, you can buy from the comfort of your own house any record or single you want, but back then, when Paul’s career was at its peak, there was only the radio and TV, if you wanted a record you had to walk all the way to the record store and hope to find one. It wasn’t easy as it is now.

I kind of liked some of Katy’s songs, even though they’re not even that good, they’re just catchy, but from now on I lost that little respect I had for her and her music. It really pissed me off.

Sherlock Series 3 Teaser Trailer (Spoilers everywhere)

I started watching Sherlock on late January/early February of this year, but don’t let my short period of time of me being a fan, give you a wrong idea, I don’t like this show, I LOVE this show,  and it immediately became one of my favorites. I’ve re-watched it countless times, I don’t know how other people managed not to lose their heads while waiting for new series, I’ve only waited 5 months and I already feel a little crazy in the head.

As a Mexican girl, I have no access to BBC, so, even if I knew today was the day of the release, I didn’t know exactly when I’d get a hold of the teaser, and I was peacefully lurking on twitter when I saw the link (they should have put a ‘Caution: Heart failure ahead’ sign on it). Excuse my fangirly manners, but, OH MY GOD!!!!.

It’s just 26 seconds long, TWENTY-SIX PERFECT SECONDS. This show is so brilliantly done, they don’t have to give you more to create a storyline in your head, I already imagined how their reactions will be like. I can’t wait for Sherlock to explain everything, I… I’m speechless, I’m seriously speechless.

Things that made me scream like a Belieber.

Sherlock‘s mysterious silhouette (with his coat collar up ‘to look cool’) at the door of 221B Baker Street.
John‘s mustache.
John’s unawareness.
Sherlock walking into the restaurant.
Sherlock‘s face when he sees his best friend.

But, we can only know for certain that Sherlock is walking into the same restaurant as John when the first episode comes out, they love toying with our feelings, so, I can expect a special turn, but I really do hope, that look on his face was for John.

I was ok with all this waiting, I re-watched both series a couple of days ago and I was ok, but after these twenty-six seconds of expectations, now I can’t wait any longer. I need a date, I need to know how long exactly I have to wait to know what will happen and how Sherlock did it, I need answers, I… I probably need a therapist.

Tom Hiddleston [Part 2]

tumblr_mq9ooaG48h1rxd2u5o1_500

Almost a year ago, I wrote how I started liking Tom Hiddleston. It’s been a whole year since my love for this actor started, and even though I knew it would last since the beginning, the ‘one year’ challenge is important to me. If I still like an actor like I did in the beginning after a whole year, then I know for certain it will last for a long time. Tom stepped into my life to stay.

In the beginning, I had a wrong idea about Tom’s army: The Hiddlestoners. But after some time of lurking twitter and tumblr, I stumbled a lot of mature, intelligent fans, plus, charities and incredible kind projects, so now, I love them too.

Tom, this year, has become someone dear to my heart. He’s not only an incredible actor and a smart twitter user, he’s also a kind and giving man. His work with UNICEF made me respect him as a man. I have no words to describe all the incredible things this guy is.

Last night Loki took the stage at the SDCC, not Tom, LOKI. I was so impressed to see him dressed like Loki, talking like Loki and demanding for the audience to say his name. He really is someone devoted to his fans and his work. I thought it was a brilliant performance. I can’t wait for Thor 2: The Dark World.

60706_10151713251472180_2010808966_nHow’s it been like to be a fan of Tom Hiddleston? Fun. Also, I’ve learned a lot, I’ve learned about Shakespeare and thanks to him I listened to Daft Punk latest album. I read somewhere, that his favorite superhero was Superman and he’s afraid of Sharks. Loved it because I’m a Superman fan terrified of Sharks.

My friends already recognize as a Tom fan. My little cousin gave me a drawing of Loki as a birthday present and a friend of mine made me an e-card with Tom. My brother gave me Loki‘s action figure from Thor (which I love with all my heart). Everyone already knows how much I love this guy.

Whenever they see a Loki meme or a picture of Tom, they send it to me, once, five different friends showed me the same picture when it was new, I’m officially his fan. It’s been a year already, I don’t feel like a newbie anymore.

I’m impatient to see Thor: The Dark World and Only Lovers Left Alive. I’ve only seen Tom on the big screen when I went to see The Avengers, but back then I wasn’t a fan, so I don’t really know how I’ll react when I see him on the big screen. Every time I think about it I get impatient.

My point was. Even after a year, I never got bored, he kept on amazing me and impressing me with interviews, movies, tweets and more. And like I said before, this will last for a long long time.

Sherlock

54

I haven’t been active on this blog because… I don’t really know why, I’ve been updating my Spanish one like crazy since I created both of them, but anyway. Here’s my latest obsession. BBC’s TV show “Sherlock”. First of all, I’d like to give some background info. Most of the time, I feel some sort of fascination to anything that reminds me of my childhood, for example: The Three Musketeers (saw lots of cartoons and shows about them while I was growing up). Sherlock Holmes for a reason that I can hardly remember was part of my childhood too. Then, a couple of years ago when Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes movie was premiered, I felt that “Uhh, my childhood” fascination and felt curiosity about it and read about the original Sherlock Holmes and watched both movies with an innocent excitement. But even if I tried, I couldn’t get a hold of any of the actual novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Then, after I finished watching all the seasons of Sex And The City (my obsession before Sherlock) I had this feeling of emptiness without a show to watch. Thanks to Tumblr I found out about this show and felt curious about it, so, I watched the first episode. AMAZING. Brilliant since the beginning. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, in my humble opinion, is the BEST Sherlock ever. I finally got to read A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and I can tell you, at least the first episode is true to the book but in modern times, I just loved it to bits. It broke my heart that we only have 3 episodes per season and just two seasons to watch, because the show is magnificent. Even the theme song is glorious, you even feel smarter by just listening to it.

It’s a really smart show, with great characters and amazing actors, Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as John Watson, great duo. The storyline changes in every Episode according to the case they’re working on but it’s so captivating you can barely feel that every episode lasts an hour and a half, time just flies by fast. If I ever made a good recommendation would be this one. If you haven’t seen it, DO IT. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Linkin Park Birthday Projekts.

55
If there’s something I find funny but makes me proud at the same time, is the fact that every year I hear people come up with a bazillion of Birthday Projekts for the band. Why would that make me feel proud? Well, maybe you ignore this, but I was the first one to come up with a projekt like this (and these guys doesn’t even change the name). The first Birthday Projekt ever was Mike’s Birthday Projekt in 2008. Here’s the announcement. Here’s the  MIKE BIRTHDAY PROJEKT.

Then, a month later the most known birthday projekt took place, Chester’s. When I had CHESTER-LAND.NET, I did that projekt every year (and still do) but other fansites started copying my idea without even changing the name, which kinda frustrated me. But it feels really nice when people tell me “You were the first one out there, I’m sticking with you”. And even if we don’t have a site anymore, we still have a twitter account and the projekt’s site up, so, we’ll be making it again this year. One year, Chester actually got to email us his thoughts on the site. So, the CHESTER BIRTHDAY PROJEKT has always been a success and it makes me proud that it has inspired other people to make projekts for the rest of the band.

Series: Grimm

Last night a friend of mine recommended me the TV show “Grimm“. Today I watched the first episode of the first season and I really liked it. It’s about the brother Grimm’s tales and how they were supposed to be true, that they wrote about their experiences and real tales. In the first episode you meet Nick Burkhardt, one of the lasts Grimms. He’s just discovering his gift of seeing things others can’t, and that he descends from a line of hunters that fight against supernatural forces. On the first episode it’s a little bit like the Little Red Riding Hood. A really good show, I recommend it. Now I’m off to watch more.

The Amazing Spider-Man

For unknown reasons one not particular day, I felt the need to watch The Amazing Spider-Man. I’m not really into Spidy, I never really liked Tobey Maguire‘s trilogy at all, but I felt like I needed to watch this one. I LOVED IT. Andrew Garfield was perfect, he was skinny and nerdy but not pathetic, which it was something Tobey always seemed to be, a pathetic loser with superpowers.

Also, I loved the cast. Emma Stone is one of my favorite actresses of this time, plus, there was Martin Sheen and Sally Field as uncle Ben and aunt May, loved them. Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, loved them too. Seriously, I couldn’t find anything wrong about this movie. But like I said, I’m not really a Spidy fan, so, the little things I knew of this superhero was in the movie, but I can’t tell if it was true to the comics or not. But I don’t care, I recommend it anyway.

Something I really liked about this movie, is that it took time for Peter to get used to his powers, he had to practice. Also, after a fight, if he was beaten up, he got scars and bruises. It was more realistic. I don’t really remember the old movies, but I can’t remember a single part where I saw Tobey bruised or really hurt after someone smashed him against a building.

For the first time in my life I’m excited about upcoming Spider-man movies.

The Big Bang Theory: Penny & Leonard.

I’ve been catching up with The Big Bang Theory and I just want to share my thoughts on the relationship between Penny and Leonard. At the beginning of the show I really liked them as a couple and always wanted them to get back together, but lately I just can’t stand Penny.

1.- Wolowitz’ Bachelor Party
I hate how condescending Penny is when Leonard told her there would be no strippers in the party, that she shouldn’t worry about that, how she always makes fun of him by sarcastically implying he can’t get anyone else, when he certainly can. I don’t know why Penny is so sure of herself when Leonard has had other girls, like Raj’s sister Prya, I didn’t really like her, but at least she was beautiful and smart, someone closer to Leonard’s style, she was actually better than the stupid-blonde prototype Penny is.

2.- The whole “Would you marry me” while having sex thing
It wasn’t such a big deal, really. I mean, he really tried to let it slip, he was rejected and tried to be cool about it, but she made a big deal like if marrying him would be the worst thing to ever happen to her. You’re entitled to have issues with commitment but that doesn’t give you the right to step on someone else’s feelings. Picture this in a real life scenario, if a nerdy insecure guy did something like that and the girl panicked as Penny did, he’d be crushed, she didn’t mind at all.

3.- Egoist decisions
She’s been with Leonard before, she knows he’s in love with her since the moment he met her. Why get back with someone you have no interest in loving? She’s not even trying, everything is just ‘awkward’ to her. But as soon as someone flirts with him she’s all “He’s mine you bitch”. There goes Sheldon’s assistant Alex. The girl is another beautiful smart girl who makes a better couple with Leonard than Penny. As soon as she saw them talking she wanted to undress Leonard. She’s so… UGHHH!. Also, I hated how she said to Amy “In bed he’s *like she’s about to say something amazing about him* he really tries”. She can’t say ONE single good thing about him and that frustrates me to no end.

In my opinion Penny should feel threatened by other girls, specially the kind of girls Leonard meets (beautiful AND smart) specially since she hangs a lot with the guys, they’re all smart and all their girlfriends are equally smart, she really should at least feel the need to be less stupid, but she doesn’t even try. When Bernadette and Amy joined the show I thought they’d make Penny less stupid since all of her friends were smart, but nope, she’s even stupider. That’s why I love when any of them make her look like an idiot, like when Amy said “It’s so cute when she tries”. But even Amy’s lesbian tendencies with Penny irritates me, it doesn’t matter her stupidity as long as she’s blonde and pretty (which is fine, that’s what the show is supposed to be about) but she shouldn’t be such an ass to Leonard just because she’s pretty, she has nothing else to offer to a man like Leonard but her prettiness, she should at least be nice to him.

And that’s it, I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Books: 50 Shades Of Grey

I never judge by someone else’s opinion. I’ve read horrible things about this book and seen women going crazy about it, so I had to read it to make my own opinion.

In my humble opinion, this book followed Twilight’s ‘Key of Success’. What is that?. It’s narrated in first person by a woman vaguely described and how she met a man as perfect as a Greek God. This perfect Adonis for some reason feels attracted to our clumsy-nothing-special narrator. Since the narrator is vaguely described and most of her actions and clothes are normal —jeans, t-shirts, converse— readers feel related to her, they feel this can happen to them, they’re normal too and clumsy. But what are the odds of a man as gorgeous as Brad Pitt to set his eyes on YOU? Seriously.

This book is Twilight for housewives. The first half of the book tells you how this unbelievable sexy man do everything in hand to get close to our stupid-nothing-special-I’m-not-pretty-at-all narrator just to let her know that he’s not right for her. She also has a best friend, but this one is not a wolf, is an Hispanic photographer called José —but is described exactly like Jacob Black— and he of course is in love with her too. In both Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey, our demi-Gods let our narrators know they have a horrible secret that will make them run away from them. One is a sparkling —pretty gay— Vampire and the other… well, let’s say he’s a sex freak. After that, it’s all about sex. Multiple and different scenarios just so they can have different kinds of sex. Such a BAD book. I’ve read better fan fiction, seriously. And for God’s sake, how can someone have an entire conversation murmuring? For every two words the narrator would say ‘I murmured’. Just bad, don’t read it, I totally NOT recommend this book.

Other than that, I’m quite curious for the movie.  If they choose any of the actors I think are perfect for the part of Christian —Ian Somerhalder for example— I’d totally watch it.

Tom Hiddleston

Let me introduce you. Guys, this is Thomas William Hiddleston. A very talented English actor who’s mostly known for his role of Loki, Thor’s misunderstood adopted brother. But let’s just call him Tom. Anyway, this is the story of how and why I started liking this incredible man.

Let me take you back to 2008 —a little before Iron Man was released— I watched the movie Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang one afternoon and fell in love with Robert Downey Jr. and been his devoted fan since then. But this is not about Rob, is it?. Thanks to that small moment in my life and brand new “favorite actor” I went to see Iron Man to the movies —and every RDJ movie premiered since then—. I’m more of a DC girl, a huge Superman fan and loved Batman’s trilogy. But if it wasn’t for RDJ, probably I wouldn’t be all that into Marvel now (aside from X-men and Wolverine, I love them). I went to see Hulk because in my humble opinion Edward Norton is one of the most talented actors of this time, but other than that, I wasn’t really interested on Spiderman, Thor or Captain America at all. Which is weird because I really like Superheroes movies and stuff like that (I’m the younger in the family, two brothers, I was literally raised as a boy too) but hearing girls saying how gorgeous Thor was and how unbelievably sexy Captain America was, annoyed the hell out of me. And that’s how I missed watching Thor for the wrong reason.

And here comes the part of why it was important for me to mention my love for Robert Downey Jr. The Avengers. Of course I was excited to see that movie, one of my two favorite actors —Ewan McGregor‘s the other— was playing the role that gave him back his successful career, AGAIN. And don’t get me wrong, but I went to the movies focused on Robert and how good Mark Ruffalo could play the Hulk. I was pleased with both, Robert was brilliant as always and Mark really surprised me and now I think I might like him better as Bruce Banner (I just said might, not saying I do).

But let’s not miss our point. The moment I stepped into the movies I was introduced to this new person. A really tall, black haired and skinny guy, I was told he was the bad guy (remember how I missed Thor?) I knew nothing yet about Loki, but of course I hated him for being the bad guy. I loved the movie and told myself I would watch it again and again in the future but I had to watch Thor before. So I did.

The moment I watched it I blamed myself and my stupidity that made me miss it when it was new. Now, I kind of understood Loki. Being the youngest —not minding being the only girl— when you’re shadowed by a brother it can make you a resentful sod. I didn’t make a big deal about Loki though, I just kind of understood him.

My girly side made me swoon by the love story between Thor and Natalie Portman (Sorry, I’ve already watched the movie twice and can’t remember her name). And my girly side kinda took over my boy-ish love for Superheroes and I kinda missed what was really important: The talent in the cast.

I don’t remember how, why or when I stumbled upon Tom’s twitter account, I don’t always follow celebrities on my personal account (unless I really really like them) but there was something about his tweets that caught my eye. Perfect spelling, perfect grammar (I know mine isn’t perfect, but HEY, I’m Mexican and speak Spanish) and I respect this language enough to appreciate when someone uses it correctly. Ok, that caught my eye, but what really caught my attention were his “Song of the day” tweets. If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m some sort of melomaniac so I really liked his tweets about music and gave him a follow. Before I even noticed, I was captivated by this guy’s tweets. He seemed so smart and interesting. I knew nothing about him and I had only watched two of his movies in which he played the same character, but I was really liking him outside his character. I was really liking Tom, the guy that made those tweets.

These are a couple of tweets I personally liked. The Gladiator quote made me follow him, well done Tom. The Who, nice choice for a road trip. His thoughts on babies? Are you real? This man was perfect, like, seriously perfect. But like I said, I knew nothing more about him than the fact that he seemed to be really smart and interesting —the kind of guy that will never be anywhere near of where I live—. Then on Facebook a friend posted a picture of the movie The Deep Blue Sea and I was like “Hey, that’s Tom… that’s Loki, I have to watch it” and so I did.

I loved him, I didn’t quite love the movie.  But don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it is a bad one, because it’s not, it’s really good. I’m the kind of girl that’s been down because of a man, because a man’s stupidity and felt like dying —but of course, I was only nineteen— and got up and continued living, got stronger and my skin got thicker. Now I can’t stand a woman that cries a lot and feels like dying because of a man (or for any reason, there’s really not a real good reason to be such a drama). I think it’s a woman that has no self-value at all. So, I don’t like watching movies with women like these. Rachel Weisz did a great job though, I got to seriously hate her. And there goes Tom. There was this bit where he’s resting in a couch telling her all about his day, when he realizes he forgot her birthday, that moment. He has this big blue expressive eyes, he doesn’t need to talk at all, you can see everything through those eyes. And well, that really tiny moment made me like him (I don’t really know why). And I have this peculiar way of recognizing a good actor. Crying. Make someone believe you’re really crying, that you’re really feeling it, it’s really hard. If an actor cries and I believe him (I think is harder for them) I immediately think he’s a good actor. Tom didn’t cry a river, no, he just had watery eyes, but I’m telling you, there’s something in his eyes that makes you believe anything.

I was so happy to finally see him out of his character of Loki, being someone else, someone completely different and being good at it. One boring night I decided to watch some youtube videos of him and I started learning a little bit more about this actor that was earning my respect and admiration without me even noticing. There were two specific videos that I liked.

I liked this one because I learned the tiny fact that he’s naturally blonde. Also, because when he was asked what video game he played while growing up he answered that he played the real only video game I’ve ever been good at: Mario Kart. And then something hit me. How could we both play the same video game when we were growing up?. Somewhere in my mind, I seriously thought Tom was a lot older than me. As soon as this interview ended, I ran to the place where the answers to everything are at… Wikipedia. He was born on February 9th of 1981, making him only four years older than me. I don’t think he looks older, I think the maturity on his tweets and the fact that he was the love interest of a 42 year old actress in a movie confused me about his age.  Also, my really fast research on Wikipedia told me he was in fact a smart talented man (impressive alma mater).

This was the second video I watched. Remember how I rambled about being some sort of melomaniac? Music is really important to me, I’ve always thought that you can tell a lot about a man by just looking through his iPod, so I’m glad I stumbled upon this interview. “What’s on your iPod?” “Everything”. Best answer ever. I know Tom is a person I certainly will never meet and he will never know I exist —I’m not the kind of fan that lives a fantasy— but I like it when an actor/artist I like have something in common with me, because then I like the person —what is public only— and not only the fictional character he’s playing. And every time someone asks me what I have on my own iPod I always say “Everything” because I go all the way from Frank Sinatra to Katy Perry. The bands he mentioned? They’re on my iPod. “What’s the strangest thing on your iPod?” “Shakira?”. Then, he got me. My favorite bands are The Beatles, Linkin Park, The Doors and Nirvana (that I’m really a fan of, I listen to a lot more). My favorite solo artists are Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Alanis Morissette, etc. But I’ve always made clear Shakira is my favorite female singer. I’m a —like I pointed out before— Spanish speaker and I grew up with her music, when it was actually good. Liking the kind of bands I like and the kind of music I listen to, people always give me a weird look when I say I like Shakira. This is the first time I actually hear an artist mention her, ever. I loved it. And yes Tom, hips NEVER lie.

It was nice to finally know a bit more about Tom, I was really liking him. But then I thought I should watch Thor again and pay more attention to him, to his acting. So, I did.

Now for me the movie Thor was the movie “Loki”. This scene in particular showed me once again how expressive his eyes are and how he shows true feelings, how convincing he is. You can feel he’s confused and angry and mostly hurt. Also, his voice, he has this really calmed low voice. “No. You took me for a purpose. What was it?… [completely serene, awaiting an answer]… TELL ME” and hell goes lose, both his voice and expressions changed in a second. Loved it. I personally wanted to go and hug Loki in that moment. It was so good that it made Anthony Hopkins‘ fainting look fake, and c’mon, it’s Mr. Hopkins. I just can’t find any more words to express what I see when I see him acting, my English knowledge is not enough or I’m not good at explaining myself. Even though I can’t tell what is it exactly, but he’s in my opinion, a great actor.

Today I finally saw the movie War Horse —yes, from now on I’ll be watching every movie he makes— and the same happened. I loved his acting. In every movie I’ve found a moment, in War Horse was this one.

And you’d ask… a moment of what?. I don’t know, a moment where his face does something that makes me believe what he’s trying to portray. Do I explain myself or I’m making no sense?. Fear. The realization of an unplanned event. Resignation. Look at those eyes.

As you may have noticed by now, I haven’t made any opinion about his physical appearance —more than my fixation with his eyes— and it’s not because I don’t find him attractive, it’s because I liked him before I liked his looks. Which is kind of weird now that I put it into words. It sounds like a boy I just met and found him so incredibly interesting and smart that I started liking him and eventually found him attractive. But that’s how it really happened. Now for me, he’s even better looking than Thor or Captain America which almost all girls say they’re oh-so-hot. I think I’ll like him for a long time, you know? I always have crushes with actors that I forget after a while, but some of them lasts —the talented ones—, like Ewan McGregor, I’ve liked him for twelve years. Robert Downey Jr. for four years. I think Tom will last too, because it wasn’t his looks what made me like him, it was his talent and his personality. I seriously can’t wait to watch more of his movies.

On a side note. The only thing I don’t like it’s his fanbase. It looks like most of them only like him for Loki —which is understandable— or because he’s so incredibly handsome —which he is— but for some reason, I find those girls incredibly annoying. I’ve never liked reading someone expressing themselves about an artist I like with the words “He’s so hot”. I seriously hate it. When someone states that someone’s hot, it’s like all that matters are their look, like, it doesn’t matter what a great actor he is. Then when girls like me like an actor for their talent sounds fake and one of the bunch. But hey, some of us girls like them for our brains not our hormones.  Remember at the beginning how I rambled about not watching Thor or Captain America because I heard every girl around saying they were so hot?. For me, when someone say an actor is hot I immediately think they’re pretty airheads as talented as a can of beans, that’s why I hate that expression.

For example, all over tumblr they say “Tom sits like a whore” because he sits with his legs apart. Like, seriously?. I would have never noticed that. I also saw a compilation video with clips centered on his crotch. I was disgusted. I wish he had fans a little bit as mature as he is. But other than that, I’m really enjoying the fact that I finally discovered such an amazing actor. I’ll continue fixating on his eyes while annoying teenagers fixate on something waaay lower than that. If you haven’t seen any of his movies, I totally recommend them to you, he’s a keeper.
